The team here at Facemediagroup is celebrating today after being recognised in the third Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list, announced at the National Apprenticeship Awards which took place during The Skills Show in Birmingham.
The Top 100 list, compiled annually by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with City & Guilds, recognises excellence in businesses that employ apprentices. It showcases the breadth of employers who now offer Apprenticeships, and I am proud that our organisation is on such a prestigious list.
Apprentices are hugely important to our organisation and we are delighted that everyone’s hard work and dedication has been recognised in this way.
The Top 100 list recognises excellence in businesses that employ apprentices, with employers honoured ranging from some of England’s largest companies to some of the smallest. Facemediagroup was recognised due to its commitment to its apprentices and passion for their learning and development. Admittedly we were very hesitant, having teenagers at home means; we know only too well that they come with a very unique set of skills which aren’t always conducive to the smooth running of an office.
We couldn’t have been more wrong! We now employ six full time apprentices across all four departments, they are the heart of our growing business and the best part of my job. They never fail to impress me with their interest, commitment, and passion.
Our first apprentice Kerri Stakim was nominated and won apprentice of the year 2012, and was invited to meet the Deputy Prime Minister in London. She came to us in early 2011 and has achieved 2 NVQ’S whilst working here and is currently looking into a management qualification. Kerri has excelled in her post and now heads our customer service desk managing customers and other members of staff.
She attends a weekly networking meeting and represents our company to highest standard. I feel an enormous amount of pride, in all our apprentices and encourage them to keep achieving, their achievements continue to increase our business.
Achieving a place on the National Apprenticeship Service, Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer, recognises the commitment and investment that small businesses like us make when employing apprentices and hopefully engages other companies to get involved. Our belief is that the right apprentice irrelevant of their age or experience will without doubt be an asset. These young people are the future of, not only your business, they are the future of our economy and nurturing their abilities will make our country an even more glorious place to live!
